Foreign policy

Foreign and security policy is based on good bilateral and international relations, a strong role in the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) of the EU, effective multilateral cooperation and credible national defence.

In its international relations, Finland promotes sustainable development, stability and security. A strong advocate of democracy and human rights, it actively promotes the values of the Nordic and Scandinavian countries in the development of world peace and human well-being.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs promotes the security and welfare of Finland and the Finns, and works for a secure and fair world.
